HipHop is the most widespread and influential youth culture of contemporary
western culture. With roots in the ghettos of New York, it has,
during its now 30 years long history, a strong influence on Kids
all over the world.
The 4 elements of HipHop culture are Rap, Graffiti,
DJ:ing and Breakdance. It is these 4 elements that Freestyle
Phanatix now offer in one workshop.
First of all the workshop directs itself to school-youth but also
to parents and teachers. Ignorance and lack of knowledge has always
been the primary obstacle in communicating and understanding between
generations. With this workshop we hope to help create a better
understanding between kids and adult generations.
RAP
The idols on the danish rapscene is people like Per Vers, Jokeren
and Malk De Koijn. Their music and texts is a daily influence for
thousands of young kids’ language and forms of expression.
Wether the older generations like it or not, it represents the daily
reality for the kids.
Raptexts are complex structures containing metaphors and advanced rhyming. In this part of the workshop the participants will learn how you can write and perform raptexts. At the same time it opens up for dialog between the teacher/instructor on his view on the danish language and the different ways it is used in contemporary Scandinavia.
GRAFFITI
This part of the workshop outlines the history of Graffiti and concentrates on issues of moral and ethics. It has to do with respect for the community/society that we live in, and the laws/guidelines included herein…that there is differences between living in Scandinavia and Compton/Los Angeles
The participants are taken along on a thrilling journey through the world of graffiti, backed up by photos and video. Also the background for the development of Graffiti as an artform is outlined.

DJ:ING
To be a DJ (Disc Jockey) today is so much more than just playing records. A DJ is a musician/composer using the turntables as instrument.
The participants will learn different kinds of turntable techniques, styles of music and how to turn the turntable into an instrument.
BREAKDANCE
The instructors tells the history of breakdance, the different styles
and the ethics surrounding the danceform.
The participants themselves is offered the possibility of trying
out the dancestyles of hiphop under careful instruction by Freestyle
Phanatix
